If you’re planning on getting rid of your chest hair, you are not the only one! People do it for various reasons, including but not limited to showing off the results of them working out at the gym all year, and/or showing off a clean cut body while at the beach.
The bottom line is there are many reasons for chest shaving and they can range anywhere from intimate reasons, stem from personal preferences, be deeply rooted in religious underpinnings, or derive from cultural expectations at large. One thing not mentioned so far is that chest shaving can be brought about as a result of recent social trends as driven by the media.
For many years up and lasting till about around the seventies, those who donned lots of body hair were considered the epitome of masculinity and virility. In other words, it made a man and “man”. Let’s not discount this, as many individuals nowadays both men and women still feel strongly about this. But in today’s world, choice is the operative word.
